When to go:
The best time of year to go to San Martin de Los Andes depends completely upon what you plan to do. Skiers and other winter sport lovers will of course find it best to go when the temperatures are coldest, in June and July. Summers in San Martin de Los Andes are quite pleasant for other outdoor activities, such as biking and water sports – temperatures average in the 70’s during January and February. So pick your season and be assured that San Martin de los Andes has plenty to offer every time of year.

How to get there:
Buses travel to San Martin de Los Andes from every major city in Argentina. Buses are cheap and schedules are generally convenient. There are several classes and several companies that make the trip, so look around for the options that fit your budget. If time is a big issue, flights are also available to Chapelco Airport, a short distance from the city.

A 90 day tourist visa will be issued at the airport with a passport. Tourist visas can be renewed for those wishing to stay in Argentina with a quick trip to Uruguay from Buenos Aires. No tourist visa is required of visitors from Israel for stays up to 90 days.

Tipping:
At restaurants it is normal to tip 10%. Taxi drivers do not receive tips but the fare may be rounded up to the nearest peso. Porters can receive a tip of a couple of pesos.
