The Quiant Village of Morretes

Curitiba Brazil is one of the best places to visit if you are looking to experience true Brazilian life and culture, while traveling through this magnificent country. This large city is considered the third most important in all of Brazil, and is divided into twenty-six districts that thanks to the city's very well-designed public transit system are more than accessible to tourists.  

The downtown area of Curitiba is a wonderful place to start adjusting and exploring the city. This area is only for pedestrians and offers not only great shopping that may leave you wallet a little empty, but also vivacious nightlife and entertainment. Also within the downtown area is the Museu Oscar Niemeyer, which is located on Rua Marechal Hermes 999.

If you are more focused on the cultural aspects of the city than the shopping and nightlife, the southeastern area of downtown is the place to spend your time. Make sure to stop at the Opera de Arame for its beautiful architecture and the Parana Museum.

The real beauty of this area however lies just outside of the city of Curitiba. The "Stone City", located in Vila Velha State Park, is about an hour & a half from the city and features stunning rock formations to explore, as well as a beautiful rainforest in which to stroll. A train trip from Curitiba to the charming village of Morretes is another great site. Take the Litorina train and view gorgeous mountains and lush forests. The best views are from the left side of the train. Just east of the city on the coast is the Guaraquecaba Environmental Protection Area. Designated by the UN as a "World Biosphere Reserve" this area is the largest untainted area of Atlantic forest still left in Brazil. The protected area is home to over 15 species of endangered birds and mammals, and over half of its tree species are unique to this particular area.
