Bocas del Toro, Panama. on 20/03/10

When you arrive at the beautiful islands of Bocas del Toro there will be no doubt in your mind that you have started your vacation. Located in North Western Panama, the islands of Bocas del Toro are some of the Caribbean Islands last secluded and unspoiled beaches. Offering guests a huge variety of adventures and natural attractions, including lush rainforest with abundant flora and fauna, stunning Caribbean beaches, crystal clear waters with coral reefs, Ngobe Indian culture and villages and a national marine park, it is no wonder Bocas del Toros is quickly becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in Panama.

Life in Bocas is tranquil and slow, allowing travelers to truly rest and rejuvenate from the chaos of their everyday lives. Take a dip and enjoy the numerous marine creatures as you snorkel or dive through Boca’s clean and crisp waters and if land is more your cup of tea, the area is also renowned for its great bird watching, both in and around the nature reserve.

Along with gorgeous beaches, Bocas del Toro also offers guests a rich cultural history. The area is a stunning melting pot of cultures that offer a unique flair to the area. Culturally, the islands are made up of a mix of Latin and Afro Caribbean culture. Nearly a century ago people from the islands of Jamaica, San Andres and other Caribbean islands immigrated to the area. There are also a number of indigenous tribes that still inhabit the area, including the Ngobe, Guatmi, Bri Bri Teribe and Cuna.

The two largest islands in Bocas del Toro are Isla Colon and Isla Bastimentos. Colon is the most important and largest town in the area. It features a number of great restaurants, bars, hotels and tourist activities. During your stay, make sure to rent a motorbike or bicycle and head over to the Cave or La Gruta, which is situated in the middle of the island. Isla Bastimentos is situated across a marine canal opposite of Isla Colon. The big draws here are the beaches, indigenous villages and most important the Bastimentos Marine National Park. The most impressive beaches in Bocas del Toro are Bluff’s and Star Beach on Isla Colon and Polo, Long and Red Frog Beach on Isla Bastimentos.

We look forward to sharing out islands with you! While planning your trip to Boca del Toro take a look at this great accommodation: bocas del toro hotel
