The Sinfully Delicious Cuisine of Fortaleza on 06/04/10 by Alexandria Prain

One of the best parts about visiting new places is having the opportunity to experience the local cuisines and beverages. In Fortaleza, this is not just an experience, but also a delicious culinary journey into the true tastes of Brazil.  Fortaleza offers visitors an incredible array of superb restaurants and bars, each with a unique flare and specialty. Truly step into Fortalezian culture and taste the flavors of their local lifestyle.

Given the city's close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, there are more than enough choices of seafood to enjoy in Fortaleza. Along its many beaches, visitors can discover delicious and reasonably priced restaurants, whose chefs are dedicated to creating sinfully tasty seafood dishes. Thanks to Fortaleza's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, there is an abundance of seafood available to try. The most famous and traditional seafood dishes in the area are Sea Salt roasted Pargo fish, with rice and salad, Peixada Cearense, which is fresh fish that is salted and covered with a lemon and garlic marinade, put with a stew composed of cabbage, carrot, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and eggs, and then at the last moment tossed with a rich natural coconut milk and served with Pirao and white beans, as well as the areas staple and delicious lobster dishes. Make sure to save room for the delicious homemade Tapioca!

After enjoying the delicious seafood of Fortaleza, it will be time to head out to try one of the sinfully prepared cocktails famous to the area. Cachaca, the strong Brazilian liquor made of sugarcane is surely the best way to start an evening at one of Fortalez's many lively bars. The liquor, though a bit strong by itself makes a very nice cocktail when mixed with fresh tropical fruits. For a truly Brazilian experience, ask the bartender for a Cachaca and fresh pineapple juice. Note, that while out at one of Fortaleza's bar you may be asked to choose between the white or gold Cachaca, the gold is the stronger of the two.

Wherever your night ends up taking you, one thing is for sure; your time in Fortaleza will offer you the chance to experience traditional and scrumptious Brazilian seafood and cocktails. With so much love and passion being used for its preparation, it is no wonder guests can't help but come back for more. Bon Appetite!
