Notes

Colonial and historic San Isidro lies within the Buenos Aires province. Plaza Mitre boasts a beautiful neo- gothic cathedral built in 1898 as well as the popular Rugby museum and a kitschy antique fair.

Tigre is another popular day destination from Buenos Aires. Named after the Jaguars that were once hunted around the area, Tigre is now filled with antique shops, riverside restaurants and pubs, a casino and even an amusement park. Furthermore, many visitors choose to take a vintage boat through the rivers to Parana Delta. The Tren de la Costa makes stops in Tigre as well.

Colonia is an extremely popular tourist destination for many travelers based in Buenos Aires. Not only does it offer an easy day trip to renew a tourist visa, but it is also a refreshing break from the urban jungle. Travelers can choose from a three- hour, cheaper ferry ride and a one hour, slightly more pricey ride into Colonial del Sacramento. The popular tourist activity in Colonia is to rent a scooter to visit some of the beaches in the area. MotoRent Colonia rents Motos at about $50USD a day. The tiny town of Colonia is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to be outside the city for a day.

Another option is to visit an estancia, or ranch, outside the Buenos Aires city limits. Estancias maintain genuine Argentine traditions and remain unique even within their own country. If you've spent all your time in Buenos Aires you're probably wondering where all that magnificent steak comes from, and the estancias can offer a window into that secret. Many estancias offer longer stay in order to give visitors the full farm experience. Tourists can even work at certain estancias. However, the local gauchos offer shows, empanadas, and an asado or BBQ for those visitors that only wish to stay one day. For about $65USD on www.travelline.com.ar tourists can visit most estancias outside the city.
