A Peek at Rosario on 30/06/10 by Alexandria Prain

rosario1 Sitting just north of Buenos Aires, the charming and beloved city of Rosario is nestled on the Parana River and offers locals and visitors alike a beautiful riverside boardwalk, cultural and historic monuments, fun recreational activities and a vivacious nightlife.

The city itself is the largest in the Santa Fe provence and is home to over one million inhabitants. Given its prime location on the Parana River, Rosario has acted as a major port for years, and is in fact a vital part of the Argentinean agricultural region. With cobblestone streets, stunning architecture and leafy and verdant trees, the city provides a wonderful escape for those trying to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires. When visiting this one of a kind city make sure to stop at these fun and interesting locations:

1. Parque Independencia: This lovely park is home to not only several museums, including the Museo de la Ciudad and the Museuo Historico Provinvial Dr. Julio Marc, but also a number of sporting areas, shady walkways and benches and stunning fountains.

2. Una Ventana al Rio: If you are looking to head out on the water, this is your spot. From the "Window of the River" visitors can enjoy the beach, boating, swimming and fishing.

3. La Florida Beaches: Situated on the northern part of the city, La Florida is a fun-loving beach sport perfect for catching some rays, kayaking, people watching, or even just grabbing a bite or drink.

4. Parque Nacional a la Bandera & Monumento de la Bandera: The most important attraction in the city, this monument and park was built in honor of the Argentine flag. Inside is the flag designer's, General Manual Belgrano's crypt!

5. Museum of Contemporary Arts: Providing a great collection of well-known artists, such as Antonio Berni and more, this art museum is more than worth making a pit-stop at. rosarioflordabeach

Where to eat: After a long day of site seeing and exploring you are sure to have worked up an appetite, here are a few of Rosario's favorite places to grab some grub:

1. Don Ferro: If you are looking for a great parrilla, this place is your stop. They have wonderful service and some truly mouthwatering meats. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

2. Victoria: A great place to grab a sandwich, beer and use the internet, Victoria is a charming and busy cafe nestled in an old-brick building. It is located on the corner of San Lorenzo and Roca in Downtown and you can expect to pay around $15 pesos for lunch.

3. Rincon: For a great vegetarian and budget meal, try Rincon Vegetarian restaurant. Here you can get an all you can eat buffet for just $11 pesos. Located on Mitre Street between Cordoba ST. and Santa Fe.

4. Alexandros Greek Tavern: Offering delicious greek food and an amazing and entertaining atmosphere, this restaurant features not only delicious soubaki platters, but also some of the world's best greek dancing. Located on Corrientes 1673.

Hi Shelley,Great site! I found it when doing a search for reewvis on Dave Ruel's cookbook. I wrote to Dave with a question, but he has not responded. Since you know the book, I wonder if you can tell me if he has included the amount of protein, carbs, fat, etc. for ALL recipes, and are the relevant portion sizes given? Many thanks.Brian

Do you still need me to submit an idea? When I click on the conctat button on your blog, it's not working. It just keeps reloading your home page. I have on my calendar that you would like something this weekend to post for Sunday. Am I right?
