Any of you happen to know what is the cheapest and safest way to transfer money from the US to Argentina?

Thanx

Here is the deal with money transfers. There are basically two options:

1. Western Union - advantages: get all your cash at once, fees paid on the sending end so you dont pay anything to pick it up. Disadvantages: Sender has to pay a pretty hefty fee (although fees for sending vary widely based on where you send it from, even state-by-state in the US), also they're really picky about your identity so it has to be sent to the EXACT name that is on your passport, which you need to bring to pick it up.

2. Transfer money to your back account, then go to an ATM to pick it up - advantages: money is in your account so you can use take it out as cash or use your debit card and you dont just have a bunch of cash lying around, plus its making interest, low fees for the sender. disadvantages: you have to pay US$5 every time you make an ATM transaction, plus the most you can take out of the ATM at a time is 300 pesos and in one day the max is 900 pesos. So that sucks.

That shouls be all you need to know to make your decision. Good luck!
