Mendoza

Mendoza’s choice location in the Andes makes it ideal for a variety of outdoor activities that adventure travelers will love.  The highest peak in the Americas, Cerro Aconcagua, is west of the city, towering at 22,841 ft. For a great adrenaline rush and an even better view, rock climbing expeditions will take you to the top.

Florianopolis
 
Florianopolis, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina, is a beautiful city split between the Brazilian mainland and the shores of beautiful island Santa Catarina.  This prime location means Florianopolis boasts over 40 beaches to its name. The two halves of the city are linked by two scenic bridges.  The business end is on the mainland, while the island is home to the city’s historic district, with many beautiful buildings to see and explore.

Cuzco
 
An ancient city in modern times, Cuzco is a huge center for travelers in Peru and South America.  With centuries-old buildings and an omnipresent indigenous influence, it is still easy to see Cuzco as the hub of the Incan empire.  Vacationers world over flock to this important site, and it should certainly be a must-see on any backpacker’s list.

Sucre

Santa Marta  
 
Santa Marta itself is a tranquil resort town, where Colombians flock to enjoy the sandy beaches and cool waters during the hot summer. Nearby coral reefs provide excellent spots for diving, and jetskis can be rented on the beach. If you aren't comfortable taking one around yourself, you can usually get a ride.
