I have a question about The Salar salt flats.
Is it possible to go travel there on my own?
I mean, pack up my trekking gear, put my boots on, and just trek there???
i mean it's not a reserve like where you pay entrance and all, right?
i can just go there and trek...?

There are organized tours for treks as well as 4x4, so I guess you could take a group or a guide from uyuni (the town), and go trekking with him.
i never heard of anyone walking into salar by himself with a backpack and all...

Yeah, I know you can take a guided trek tour, but I was wondering about doing it by myself, with maps of trekking routs in the desert.
I'm just not sure if they even have these for the salar.
And if so do I have to pay entrance, like a park or something.

Salar de uyuni is open and vast and you can just walk in. There is no gate. It's a huge SALTY Desert…
But going trekking there all alone?!.. I don't know about that.
You see, the thing with the Salar is that it all looks THE SAME. There are no guide lines and land marks to check your progress in a trail. So unless u can navigate by the stars I don't see how to travel there alone.
