Hi I want your opinion.This ia my first time travel to hostel in Brazil and I am 62 (looking v.young).Shall I be able to fit in just for travelling ? My trip is first 2 weeks in July,2008...how much cash should I bring or travellers cheques? I want to travel like locals.All information is appreciated...Thanks....I'll be alone from USA.

A shared room in one of the minihostels in brasil costs 12-20 USD per day
A private room is between 35-55 USD per day. Since Brasil is known to be a dangerous spot i advise you to always ask for the hostel's safe box.

If you are a big spender you can take between 1000-1500 USD a month maybe more, I would agree that the average traveler spends 850 USD a month in Brasil. Rio is a bit more expencive then other places.

Please never take more tha 50 Real (30 USD) in your pocket when you go. Remember that If you are with a camera you always look more like a tourist. If you have expansive jewelry watches or other expencive items, you shouldn't wear them.

Hey, you can get the visa for 100 - 150 USD in the airport.
The card only gives you 10%, but in 60 days you can save more than 200USD if you travel through minihostels the card values 10 USD and is valid for 2 years. you can save 3-6 USD for every day of your trip. that is a lot

You sure I'll get visa without hassle at Brazil Airport If I am unable to take it here.Getting visa there will help me- also let me best hostels to stay there. I like hussle and bustle and seeing places.
