Directions
From the Airport by Taxi (R$50): Take a taxi to Barra Da Lagoa and get off at the final bus station (`ponto final do onibus`). There you will see a blue bridge, cross it and we are the first yellow house.
From the Airport by Bus (R$3): Take bus 186 to the final stop, change to bus 320 or 330 on platform B (free of charge) to the final stop. Change to bus 360 'Barra da Lagoa' (free of charge) to the final stop. There you will see a blue bridge, cross it and we are the first yellow house.
From the Central Bus Station (Rodoviaria) R$3: Get out of the terminal, go 200m to the right to the local bus terminal (TICEN), take bus 320 or 330 on platform B to the final stop. Change to bus 360 'Barra da Lagoa' (free of charge) to the final stop. There you will see a blue bridge, cross it and we are the first yellow house.

cool and apperently new hostel. nice staff, but often confusing... the cleaning in the rooms was really bad, the breakfast was the best ever! when they get everything togheter i think its gonna be really great! if u wanna relax this is not the place, the music is loud from the bar and from the street! its a partyplace with the best location in barra da lagoa!

We stayed at Banana Beach on the recommendation of a couple we met who had just been there, who loved it. We had high expectations and unfortunately we ended up quite disappointed. We had booked a private double on the website but standard double would be more accurate. Our room was on the ground floor right next to the only stairwell that led up to the bar so it was noisy. Because we were on a low level we also had no natural ventilation and there was mould ALL OVER the main wall in our room where our heads were supposed to be in the bed. We ended up lying with our heads up the other end instead. The fan only worked when the light was on so we had no ventilation at night either - not such a problem in the low season but could not imagine what it would be like in high season! The curtain in our room wasnt big enough for the window either.. All rooms (dorms as well) share a kitchenette with another room but ours had no actually cooker so we had to use another one when we wanted to cook. Otherwise, this Israeli-run place is quite nice, has a good view from the rooftop bar and the staff are quite helpful. Just a shame that we had such a bad room - we honestly felt like saying they shouldnt rent it out when we left..
