The first hostel of its kind, Favelinha welcomes you to the interesting world of the majority of the Cariocas. Keep in touch with the friendly people of the favelas and know their lives, what they think, and how they spend most of their time.
Housed in a beautiful tall edifice, this fabulous hostel is located in the most beautiful setting where wind, sea and sky become one. Set your eyes at the stunning views of the Guanbara Bay, the Sugar Loaf Mountain and the beautiful beaches of Flamengo and the equally astounding Botafogo while lounging lazily at the terrace of the lovely Favelinha. read more
Accommodations include double rooms and two dorm rooms. Each room has a balcony that has a stunning view of the city and private baths. A tropical breakfast greets each guest every morning where some of the fruits served come from Favelinha’s own garden.
The hostel is only five minute walk from either the metro station or the old little cable car, both of which link you to the rest of the city. the hostel is located at the inner part of the favela which requires you to walk a small uphill (or down) where along the way you are treated to a wonderful sight of beautiful houses, robust trees, playing children, and chatting women . This part of the city is absolutely secured and has been quiet for the past ten years assuring you of a fabulous stay.
If you are looking for an extraordinary Rio trip, the Favelinha is your key to exciting memorable experiences.

Directions

There is a small bus (RIO TOTAL) departing directly in front of the church of the square during the entire day until 11 p.m. - it leaves approximately every 10 minutes. It takes only five minutes with this bus to reach the dead end street (Rua Pereira da Silva) which is the beginning of the favela. Just stay in the bus until it turns at the top of a little hill at the end of a dead end street. Get out right after it has turned and climb the hill to the pousada - you will find signs which will show you the exact direction, or ask any of the locals who will happily show you the way to the 'pousada'. It will take about 5 minutes to do the steep climb of about 75 meters.

I stayed here with a close friend and we like the place so much. It has nice vibe and everyone there was really friendly. The place was quite clean and the staff was super attentive. We will come here once again, definitely.
