It's really a great place: lovely staff an nice guests. I wanted to stay there for about 3 days - and ended up staying for more than a week...

I really loved my stay here, wish it could have been longer! The staff are all very nice and helpful. I especially love the rooftop patio, perfect for asados and just relaxation!

Staff is really friendly and helpfull. Bathrooms could be cleaner but when you have a lot of people who need to shower around the same time it is not easy off course. In general it is a really nice hostel close to the parks, bars and restaurants.

The place is disgusting, the bed was full of hair as well as the bathroom, even found dog shit and pee in the stairs. Very noisy and poor breakfast. Don't trust pictures on the website. Pity because the building has lot of potential.

The moment I arrived at the doorstep of Gecko, I know right away that this is the perfect place for me. The place is filled with charm and energy. I like the rooms especially the bathrooms. And the people are great!

Nice communal areas, and a nice bar. Handy location in a trendy suburb. While the staff at this hostel were generally friendly and helpful, there were a number of aspects to Gecko Hostel that I found very disappointing. First of all, the double rooms are extremely small, and the beds are absolutely awful (thin mattresses, very old) and tiny (my feet touched the end of the bed), definitely the worst I've slept in during my four months travel. The rooms are also - at least in Summer - really uncomfortably and unpleasantly hot, so much so that most people have to sleep with the doors open. I started dreading coming back to the room. There is very little privacy also. For some reason, our room didn't have curtains, like all other double rooms. When I raised this with a staff member and asked whether we could get curtains she told me 'There are no curtains in that room'. I went looking around the hostel and found a store room with spare curtains, so took them and put them into my room. The dorm rooms looked reasonably comfortable. They also have a bizarre door system, where you have to get a staff member to physically unlock the front door to get in and out of the hostel, and you often have to wait to leave because a staff member isn't at the reception desk. I have no idea why they do this, when it's so easy to install an electric unlocking door. It's fairly clean, but I know there are definitely better hostels in BA - for the reasons above, I wouldn't recommend Gecko Hostel.

The rooms are extremely cold. Don't go here if you're looking for somewhere warm. Also, there is a lack of lockers, so it's first in best dressed if you want a locker.

We stayed four night in Gecko in summer. The location was great, just next to nice bars and restaurants. Even if we felt like in an oven in the four-bed dormitory, the place was quiet enough. Staff was great, and it was easy to get to know other backpackers. The kitchen and the bar helped to feel a bit more at home.

This is definitely one of those hostels where you plan to stay a few days and somehow end up still there 2 weeks later...its just that great a place. You really feel at home when you walk in the doors and the hostel is really spacious but comfortable and cozy at the same time. Big reception area with computers, nice bar area, comfy living room with TV and comfy chairs, and huge rooftop area with parrilla.

Best location, right in the heart of Palermo Soho. Lots of great bars and restaurants just blocks away. Plaza Serrano is really close too, make sure you check out the crafts fair on the weekends, great place to get souvenirs.

Decent hostel in a good part of town. They have well-sized lockers and helpful staff (after a bit of prompting). I was in a dorm which was fine. Not that many people here though - maybe it's not high season.

Very friendly staff. Party atmosphere inside. But the reservation was not so successfull. I've booked via minihostels.com a double room with ac and private bath and when i arrived i got a small dirty room with shared bathroom. (queue was huge at bathroom because hostel was full). They said the reservation didn't come through correctly because i've booked with minihostels.com. (allthough i think it was just an excuse)
