Pretty basic but had all what a hostel should have, and then some: a swimming pool! Nothing fancy about the decor but it had a friendly atmosphere and the common areas were nice. Rooms were more or less clean and the bathrooms had decent showers. For the price we paid, it was a fine stay.

Lo mejor Hostal!!! Media Luna Hostel is the backpackers place in Cartagena. Accommodation is the best, great matresses you can sleep well. They got a swiiminig pool, bar to party and located really well in the heart of Getsemani. Had the best time here and got plenty of help from the hotels staff

Media Luna is SO GORGEOUS, I just couldn't get over it. The pool area and the bar are so beautiful, the rooms are all really clean, the staff is really nice and friendly. This is my favorite hostel from my trip through South America!

Well situated, one of the staff spoke perfect English and was great help, the others only Spanish. All in all very recommendable. A minus: Like in most Colombian hostels, there was no warm water in the shower, but the "cold" water there is far from being like the cold water in Europe.

Nos encantó el hostel. Es ideal para ir con amigos, o ir solo y hacerse de amigos. Muy divertido, con muchos espacios en común (asador, piscina, tumbonas, una gran terraza, mesa de pool, etc.), una cocina enorme y muy cómoda, y personal muy simpático. El hostel organiza fiestas los lunes, miércoles y sábados (la mejor, la de los miércoles), y son tan buenas que hasta vienen de otros hostels para participar en ellas. Y del tema seguridad no tengo criticas: nunca nos faltó nada, y el ambiente de gente que se hospedaba era muy bueno y educado.

The two main things you need to be able to do in a hostel - sleeping and taking a shower - are NOT possible here. It´s noisy the whole night, the staff are not very keen on helping you, the toilets and showers are full of shit and dirt. Worst hostel ever!

Media Luna overall was a great place to be. The place has a great atmosphere, which is it's biggest asset. It was really easy to meet people due to a great layout, the pool, and all the bar areas. The roof party on a Wed is not to be missed - I think everyone in Cartagena was there! The building is beautiful and rooms are fine. They could do with more fans though, as the dorms were very hot. Cleanliness was also fine, but could be improved a bit in the communal bath areas. The staff all seemed 'fine' but didn't go out of their way to help, they seemed pretty content to just be working at the busiest hostel in town. Minor negatives aside, the place is amazing. Great roof terrace, good place to meet others and the pool makes the Cartagena temperature slightly more bearable!

Great location and building. Staff not very friendly. Really loud, but ideal if you want to party all night. Overpriced compared to other fab hotels in the area.

The hostel facilities and location was excellent. However I had to relocate after staying one night as the hostel staff placed me in a dorm next to the bar playing very loud music till 3 am, after I had told them I had just got off a 15 hour bus.

This hostel is located about 10 minute walk give or take from the Old City, which is nice. They have a nice rooftop bar area and it's great for people who want to chill. However, I think for as much as they charge (30,000 for a dorm with private bath) it's a ripoff. There is no AC and the bathrooms are not kept clean at all. Additionally, they didn't even honor my deposit made on minihostel.com.

The internet is spotty. The staff is somewhat friendly; however, at times, it seemed as if they had no idea what exactly they were doing. Prices changed. Money went missing. This is not a hostel to come to if you are not in a group.

Mis amigas y yo pasamos un tiempo buenisimo en media luna hostel, el hostel es muy lindo y agradable para estar. Mucha gente con muy buena onda y lo recomiendo sobre todo para ir con amigos!

I stayed at this hostel for 3 days, and twice in that time had my money stolen from my room!!! The staff come round the rooms at 4.30am and search them with the light of a mobile phone, if they see you are awake they quickly leave!! When confronted I was told this was routine!!! Seriously??? The first time my money was taken from my bag which was on the bed while i was sleeping and the second time from my locker which was locked and the screws removed and then replaced!! My laptop and credit cards were not touched just about $200. The staff have a great scam going here knowing that if they only take your cash you will not go to the bother of reporting it and there is nothing you can do!!!! With 140 beds they must be making a fortune!!!! I would not recommend staying here. Shame as the building is quite nice.....

Such a cute hostel and it even had a swimming pool. Price for a bed was cheap and the staff was friendly and welcoming and knew a lot about the city. I would definitely stay here again.
