Vila Casanova is a rustic eighties building consisting of four floors standing proud at a quiet residential neighbourhood of Santa Teresa. Only a short walk away are the bars and hot night spots of Lapa and is only 10 minutes to Corcovado with its famous statue, the Christ Redeemer. Brazil’s famous beach destinations of Copacabana and Ipanema can easily be reached from here as well as the Sugar Loaf, the Marcana football stadium and the Sambodromo where the great carnival parade happens. Also close by is the local commercial center with its fine restaurants, cafes, specialty shops, and bars. read more

the hostel is conveniently located 5 minutes from Rio's downtown/business district, where the most important museums, cultural centers, art galleries and historical buildings are, and from Lapa, distinguishable by its arched aqueduct, home to the samba and the bohemia.

I was travelling alone and stayed here for five days. I felt safe and very comfortable. Everybody was friendly and the staff was really helpful. The room I got was clean and nice. The hostel is in a nice area and is close to anything I need.
