Sometimes its nice to stay in an unknown place, and this was one of those times. We went to Hostal Puritama. We paid 28 US dollar a night for a nice, clean double room. This hostel has hot showers and a kitchen for cooking (restaurants in San Pedro de Atacama are expensive!). We met some nice locals here. They cook some typical Chilian (huge) oysters with wine, butter and garlic! The Hostal is staffed by a lot of people that live everywhere around the hostel. That's a little bit strange but whatever.

Nice place, beds decently comfortable. You have to walk across the courtyard to get to the bathroom and that is not fun at night and I dont even want to imagine in the winter.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL OVER MINIHOSTELS.COM BECAUSE: THE OWNER DOESN'T WANT TO WORK WITH MINIHOSTELS AND THEREFORE, SHE DOESN'T ACCEPT THE CONFIRMED PRICE NOR THE 10% DEPOSIT!!!! THAT WAS A BIG DISAPOINTMENT!
