Trek around Mount Piltriquitrón, either to the summit or on a lighter hike at the lower alititudes. Either way you’ll feel good – the mountain is said to give off positive energy that improves mood.
Visit the Lago Puelo National Park, where you can rent a boat to take you around the beautiful waters that give the town its name.
Head to El Maiten and get on “La Truchita,” a legendary old locomotive train that was integral in enabling the first Patagonian settlers to build their towns.
Go fishing on the Rio Puelo, home to many different types of native fish.

Bariloche’s elevation gives it a highly varied climate, with temperatures dropping severely during the night In the summer months of January and February daytime temperatures average in the low 70s Fahrenheit, though on mountaintops snowfall can occur even at this time. Winter is a much longer season, and highs in June, July, and August average in the low 40s, though cold weather often persists from May to September. Precipitation is common in the winter, particularly in August.

| How to get there: |
Cheap, convenient buses can be taken from Buenos Aires and other major cities in Argentina to Bariloche, from which there is a short regional bus to Lago Puelo. Direct trips can only be had from Bariloche, Esquel, El Calafate and Puerto Madryn. If you’re coming from another city, get to one of these locations for the bus to Lago Puelo.
