Main Tourist Attractions:
Take a tour of the Isla Corazon, a heart-shaped mangrove island that is now recognized as a National Wildlife Refuge and a National Heritage Site. Local fishermen offer canoe-led tours of the ecosystem – arrange everything through them.

Go surfing or just lie out on one of Bahia’s beautiful tropical beaches.

For a little more adventure, try paragliding off the nearby Cliffs of Canoa.

Head to Punta Gorda Reserve where you can volunteer to work the last bit of Tropical Dry Forest, hike, fish with a subsistence fishing family, or just relax in hammocks and enjoy the cool breeze.

Take a trip out on the sea for some whale watching (seasonal).

Bahia de Caraquez is hot and relatively humid year round, making anytime a great time for traveling here and enjoy the beautiful beaches.

How to get there:
Cheap buses can be taken to Bahia de Caraquez by bus from Quito (eight hours) or Guayaquil (six hours).
