| Main Tourist Attractions: |
Visit the old fort in Santa Teresa National Park, surrounded now by palm trees and sand dunes with a great view of the ocean.
Before tourism, Punta del Diablo was just a tiny fishing village. Go out fishing and learn from local fishermen about catching local specialties.
Lay back on the beautiful, tranquil beaches, such as beautiful la Brava with crashing waves, or la Mansa, in a large bay protected from wind for more tranquil waters.
Roam around the tiny town and catch some of the local flavor.
When you tire of wandering, grab a drink at a beachside bar, relax, listen to some music and watch the waves crash on the sand.

| When to go: |
Punta del Diablo can be visited at any time of year, but the best time to guarantee beachgoing weather is, of course, the summer, Dec-Feb. Though many other beach towns are overrun and have exorbitantly high prices during this time, Punta del Diablo is, for the meantime at least, still relatively unknown and remains inexpensive with good bargains to be found for backpackers and budget travelers.

How to get there: |
From Montevideo buses leave several times a day to travel to Punta del Diablo. Buses are cheap and the ride is approximately 3.5 hours, depending on whether the bus makes stops or not. If you’re coming from Buenos Aires, take the ferry over to Montevideo and then catch the bus. A cheaper but longer option is to take the ferry to Colonia, then the bus to Montevideo, then switch buses to Punta del Diablo.
