Atrações Principais

(*)For some real culture and great people watching, grab a bite or a drink at the large square Terreiro de Jesus, with food carts throughout the day and plenty of people hitting the town in the evening.

(*)Watch some badass capoeira at Mercado Modelo in the lower town, where you can also find great crafts to buy as gifts or souvenirs.

(*)Enjoy nature in Abaeté Park, a state park around a lake with same name. When you bore of all the tranquil beauty, there is a bar area that often has live music.

(*)Visit the Solar do Unhão, an old house that is the site of the most beautiful sunset of Salvador and also holds a small museum. Check it out on Saturday afternoon for jam sessions.

(*)To appreciate some history, head to the Museu Afro-Brasileiro, which documents the slave trade and subsequent development of the city.

Quando ir

Salvador is warm to hot and humid year-round, making it a great destination at any time. March is the hottest month and July the coolest, though temperatures are still around 80^ F. Rain is heaviest in May and lightest in January, but there is a fair amount of rain year-round. The high season is Jan-March, so if you?re on a budget you might want to consider coming a different time, when prices will be cheaper and reservations easier to come by.

Como chegar

(bus) Lucky for backpackers and travelers on a budget, Salvador receives regular buses from all over Brazil as well as Paraguay. From the main bus station, local buses and taxis travel to locations all over the city. Long-distance buses are generally comfortable, efficient, and cheap. For those short on time rather than money, flights can be taken from other Brazilian cities and main hubs of Europe, South America, and the United States. Brazil?s inexpensive domestic airline is Gol, but many other carriers make the flights as well.

Informação de Vistos

US Citizens require a visa in order to enter Brazil. Citizens of Israel, Great Britain, and most EU countries do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days. If you are in doubt about whether you require a visa to enter Brazil, check online with your embassy.

Gratificação

At restaurants a service charge of approximately 10% is generally added to the bill. It is always identified that this charge is not obligatory, and any more than this is certainly not expected. Taxi drivers do not expect to be tipped, but fares may be rounded up to the nearest Real so no one has to deal with change.
