San Juan was completely rebuilt after an earthquake in 1944, making it the country’s most modern city. Take a city tour and see the unique character of the area.
Check out the Santo Domingo Convent, a cell where Gral. San Martin hid out in 1815 while he prepared to liberate Chile and Upper Peru.
Come in February for the annual Fiesta Del Sol, a festival celebrating food, culture, art, and of course sun and all things summer.

Summers in San Juan are hot and dry, while winters are mild and rarely reach freezing. Rainfall is rare. To hit the ideal temperatures for your outdoor ventures, try visiting in the spring (Oct-Nov) or Fall (Apr-May), when you can go outside without worrying about layers or sweat stains.

Buses travel to San Juan from every major city in Argentina. Buses are cheap, leave regularly, and are the perfect option for anyone traveling on a budget. If time is an issue and you’re traveling far, another option is flying into San Juan airport.

Travelers from most countries including the US, UK, Australia, EU citizens, New Zealand, Canada, and Israel do not require a visa to enter Argentina. A 90 day tourist visa will be issued at the airport with a passport. Tourist visas can be renewed for those wishing to stay in Argentina with a quick trip to Uruguay from Buenos Aires. No tourist visa is required of visitors from Israel for stays up to 90 days.
