Globalteer projects in Medellin

Globalteer is a UK-based volunteer organization with projects around the globe. Their project in Medellin focuses on helping children by keeping them off the streets and teaching them vocational skills. They work with day centres which provide children with a safe environment as well as teach them skills. Volunteers work with the staff of the centres, teach english or art and do fun activiteies witht the children. Volunteers can participate in programs as short as 1 week or as long as 12 weeks. As a backpacker you can pay a reduced program fee which includes dorm-room style accomodation, orientation and support. jim@globalteer.com

Globalteer -- The Colombia Kids project Â? This is an outreach program for underprivileged children in this cultural Andean city. Children will be provided with English lessons, art, music, and sports. There are also health programs and psychologists. The goal is to provide these children with the opportunity for a more positive life.

I have dealt with the streets almost my whole life in the US. My only bad situation was a death threat on a supposed family member. I was working security for a wealthy person. I always handled things peacefully. But, I calmly returned the threat and upped the anty to tourture back on them. And set up terms for their surrender. Either they gave me an empty threat or he backed down or came to his sences that a kill was pointless. Never let anyone know your name. I knew that but “my client” let the (fake)info slip. I am a professional. Don’t believe anything you see on TV. Always go to the authorities, even if you feel it’s too late. Read up on how to protect yourself overseas on line. A hotel safe. And never carry a social security card. Etc. Violence is weekness. Remember they always have it comming.
